Egg-streem Gardening

(June) Winter is in full swing here in the Upper Swan Valley, and we have been adding winter veggies to our small herb garden near the chicken coop. Speaking of our resident hens, our ‘rescued’ ex-battery chickens are now well feathered and have adapted to their new home.  They...

Pool Upgrade Underway

With the temperatures plunging into the low teens, and single digits at night, it is really too cold to swim in the pool (except for the most intrepid of swimmers).  With that in mind, we are in the process of upgrading the pool area to include shade sails (supported...

ABOUT OUR GUESTHOUSE:
Our lovely executive home in The Vines Resort functions as a guesthouse, and as such the room fees for short term stay are on a per room basis. The thermometer is dipping into the single figures and I have a serious case of Spring Fever.  I have invested the last few days planning my spring garden, and putting in some last-minute winter vegetables.  I have also started seedlings for the Kitchen Garden / Herb patch.  Our guests enjoy being able to pick fresh produce from the garden to add to their meals. This itching anticipatory ache in the heart is best described by the words of Mark Twain: It’s spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly...
